Built a new at-sea toolbox set today courtesy of my job. This is what $3000 and a Government discount gets you from Snap-on and Pelican cases.

I actually had one more that wouldn't fit in the box…
It had interchangeable heads, so it could be brass, rubber, plastic, steel. The box it came in was too big to fit in one of the drawers.
I know, woe is me :(

The tool box is from Pelican its a waterproof tool chest. All the tools are from Snap-on and Bluepoint (snap-on's cheaper overseas alternative)

What is this for? What is your jorb? Also I should note I would have way too much fun organizing the tools and getting them all unwrapped and packed.

This is for my job, I'm an oceanographic tech. Go to sea a lot to fix things so a waterproof toolbox is a nice thing to have.
I know how you feel! I diligently checked each tool off the shipping manifest as I took it out of the box and then figured out how they would best fit in the toolbox.

interesting job! I had to do a similar but less intense shopping spree for work. Except it was like $700 at sears and tools add up fast! but it was pretty fun to fill up a huge cart full of tools I didnt have to pay for.

What kind of work are you in?
They do add up fast, don't they!? It is a lot easier to swallow spending that kind of money on tools when you don't foot the bill. I still feel a little bad given the price of snap-on though, even with the around 50% discount. But this is part of a pilot program to see how they stand up to the rigors of seawater. If they last a few years, they are worth it. One guy at work started buying the harbor freight stuff, which sometimes is ok at home but at sea it lasted about a month. Before the end of a trip it was rusted solid.

yeah I hadnt thought about the sea water that must be tough on everything! even a chromed box wrench would surely rust instantly. I am a college student and work at a high school in the auto body program.
